According to another belief, this day is also known as birthday of Goddess Lakshmi. In some places this day is celebrated as the birthday of Goddess Lakshmi.

Mother Parvati had two sons, so Lakshmi ji demanded her to adopt a son. Mother Parvati knew that Lakshmi ji does not stay in one place for long. So she would not be able to take care of the child, but understanding her pain, she handed over her son Ganesha to her.
