On the day of Ekadashi, only one aarti gives the result of fasting for all Ekadashis
Lord Krishna while explaining the importance of Ekadashi fast to Yudhishthira says that whoever observes fast on this day with true devotion and rituals, gets rid of all his sins and attains heaven. According to beliefs, Ekadashi is a symbol of happiness and good luck. Apart from this, it is also believed that fasting on Ekadashi is as fruitful as donating gold during the solar eclipse. Apart from this, the person observing the fast will get the privilege of enjoying not only this world but also heaven. People observing fast on this day should follow celibacy. He should not harbour malice, malice or betrayal while fasting. He should worship and meditate with a pure heart.
Devotees should have only one meal a day before observing the fast i.e. on the day of Dashami.
One should wake up early on the day fast and take bath.
One should take a pledge to fast with a pure mind and soul.
During the fast, one should avoid consuming oily food, cereals, honey, pulses, lentils and bronze vessels. One should do Jagran at the night and break the fast the next day on Dwadashi.
