Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti is a famous festival of Sikhs. It is celebrated as the birthday of the tenth and last Sikh Guru, Gobind Singh. Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti usually falls in December or January or sometimes twice within a year as it is calculated according to the Hindu Bikrami calendar, which is based on the Hindu calendar. The day witnesses large processions and special prayer meetings in all the Gurudwaras. It is a religious festival in which prayers for prosperity are offered.
