Kamada Ekadashi 2022

Each Ekadashi that comes in Hinduism has its own significance, but every festival of Ekadashi is celebrated because of some reason and belief. According to the scriptures, the time of Ekadashi is holy. The festivities of Ekadashi related to ancestors and Lord Vishnu are the day of Hari, hence it is also called as Hari Vasara.

The holy Ekadashi is going to come on 12th April in the year 2022. We will tell you about Kamada Ekadashi, when it is celebrated and what will be the time of Muhurta in the year 2022.

Ekadashi is celebrated every year in the month of Chaitra on Ekadashi Kamada, which falls during Shukla Paksha. It is celebrated a day before by sadhus i.e., ascetics. This day is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, in which worship is done and fasts are kept. Anyone can observe this fast on the day of Kamada Ekadashi.

According to the Hindu calendar, when the eleventh day comes in the Shukla Paksha as soon as the month of Chaitra begins, it is called Kamada Ekadashi. The month of Chaitra is also known as the month of Sawan. The days in the Hindu calendar are calculated based on sunrise, so it does not fall on the eleventh day of the English calendar.

According to the Hindu calendar, its Parana Muhurta will be on Wednesday. The duration of which will be 03 hours 14 minutes. In the year 2022, the date of Ekadashi will start on April 12 at 04:30 in the morning and will remain till 05.02 in the morning on April 13. The Parana Muhurta of Kamada Ekadashi will start from 01:40 pm on Wednesday, 13th April and will end at 04:13 pm on the same afternoon.

Mythology related to Kamada Ekadashi - Lord Krishna narrated the story of Kamada Ekadashi to Dharmaraja Yudhishthira. According to this legend, there was a king named Pundarik who ruled the city of Bhogipur in ancient times. In whose court, many Gandharvas of singing used to come every day to please the king with their singing. In that era, there was an Apsara named Lalita, and her husband Lalit was a Gandharva, who was very superior.

Once upon a time when Lalit went to the king's court for singing and during the time he was giving his performance, he remembered his wife Lalita and got lost in her thoughts. Due to which there was a mistake in the notes during his singing. A serpent named Karkat, present in the meeting, caught this mistake, and told the king about it. Hearing this mistake, King Pundarik became furious and turned Lalit into a demon with his curse.

When Lalita came to know about this incident, she started travelling everywhere to find the remedy. She was very sad to see her husband in such a condition. After wandering for many years, she reached the hermitage of sage Shringi on Vindhyachal mountain. He narrated all his agony and sought the help of the sage to guide him to solve it.

Then that sage asked to observe the fast of Kamada Ekadashi coming on the day of Ekadashi of Chaitra month, Krishna Paksha. Lalita performed this fast as prescribed by the sage following the complete rituals, which ended the curse of her husband, and again Lalit got his true form. From that time onwards, this fast was observed every year.

The day of Kamada Ekadashi is very important for those devotees who are worshipers of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that the fast observed on this day yields the same result as austerity for many years. That is why it is also known as Falda Ekadashi. On this day, the devotees of Lord Vishnu wash away their sins by bathing in the holy rivers and devote the whole day to the worship of Shri Hari. Worship done on the day of Kamada Ekadashi with devotion fulfils every wish.

If Sahasranama is recited with fasting on this day, then Shri Hari is very pleased. By using this day in worship, Brahmins should be given dakshina after feeding them with respect and blessings on the day of Dwadashi. On this day, food and charity should also be given to the poor.
