Kamika Ekadashi falls on the Krishna Paksha Ekadashi during the month of 'Shravan' according to the Hindu calendar. It is one of the important Ekadashi falling in Sawan. Worship Rules During Kamika Ekadashi
On the day of Kamika Ekadashi, devotees should worship Lord Vishnu with full zeal and devotion. People wake up early and worship the Lord with Tulsi leaves, flowers, fruits and sesame seeds. Later, Panchamrit Abhishek is also performed. There is also a practice of lighting a lamp in front of the Lord and asking for forgiveness for all the sins committed. Worship of Tulsi plant on this day has special significance as Tulsi ji is considered sacred to Lord Vishnu. The mere sight of Tulsi leaves on Kamika Ekadashi washes away all sins and all diseases are destroyed by worshiping them. Giving water to the Tulsi plant protects a person from the wrath of Lord Yama, the god of death. This Kamika Ekadashi fasting ritual is also the path to happiness and prosperity in life. Most of the Hindu devotees specially plant Tulsi in their homes on this day.
On the day of Kamika Ekadashi, people keep a complete fast by abstaining from drinking or eating anything throughout the day. If complete fasting is not possible then partial fasting can also be done. In this, the consumption of fruits and milk products is allowed. The fast of Ekadashi is concluded on the next day, on Dwadashi after feeding Brahmins and donating money and clothes according to their ability. The observant of Kamika Ekadashi fast should do Jagran in the night and sing kirtan and bhajan in praise of Lord Vishnu. It is considered auspicious to recite 'Vishnu Sahastrasanam' and chant 'Om Namo Narayan' on this day.
