Knowing his talent, Swami Rananand made him his disciple. It is believed that Mirabai, a devotee of Krishna, was also a disciple of Saint Ravidas. It is said that Mirabai got inspiration from Saint Ravidas and then decided to follow the path of Bhakti. In a verse of Meerabai, her Guru is mentioned: "Guru Milia Saint Guru Ravidas Ji, Dinhi Gyan Ki Gutki." And in "Man Changa to Kathoti Mein Ganga," he never discriminated against caste. Any saint or fakir who came to his door used to wear handmade shoes without taking money; he used to do every work with full heart and dedication. He used to say that work done with a pure mind and devotion yielded good results. "Man Changa to Kathoti Mein Ganga"—This statement of Ravidas ji is most famous. In this statement, Ravidas ji has said that if work is done with a pure mind, then it is celebrated like a pilgrimage.
