Actually Ekadashi of Krishna Paksha of Paush month is called Saphala Ekadashi. Saphala means success, it is believed that fasting on this Ekadashi makes all the work successful, hence it is called Saphala Ekadashi. Lord Achyuta is worshiped on this day.
Saphala Ekadashi Puja Method
1. Devotees observing the fast of Saphala Ekadashi should offer prayers to Lord Achyut on this day. The method of this fast is as follows-
2. After taking a bath in the morning, after taking the resolution of fasting, one should offer incense, lamp, fruits and Panchamrit etc. to the Lord.
3. Lord Achyut should be worshiped with coconut, betel nut, amla, pomegranate and clove etc.

Mythology
In ancient times, King Mahishmat ruled in Champavati city. The king had 4 sons, among them Luke was very wicked and sinner. He used to destroy his father's wealth in his misdeeds. One day, being sad, the king expelled him from the country, but still his habit of looting did not leave.
At one time he did not get food for 3 days. During this wandering he reached the hut of a monk. Luckily that day was 'Safala Ekadashi'. The Mahatma welcomed him and gave him food. This behavior of the Mahatma changed his intellect. He fell at the feet of the monk.
The monk made him his disciple and gradually Luke's character became pure. He started fasting on Ekadashi on the orders of the Mahatma. When he was completely transformed, the Mahatma revealed his true form to him.
