Generally, at the beginning of the house, the period of Bhadra, Guru-Shukrast, Adhikmas, Kshyamas, Tithi Vridhi, Tithiakshay, eclipse period, Sankranti, the forbidden period of Vishkumbhadi yogas, cruel Guhayuti, cruel Grihavedhadi is taken only during the period free from defects.
In order to start the work of housebuilding, it has been said in the Vastu texts that starting housework in Chaitra month leads to mourning, wealth in Vaishakh, fear of death in the eldest, animal husbandry in Ashadh, animal growth in Shravan, Bhadrapada. There is emptiness in the month of Ashwin, death and destruction in the month of Kartik, food gained in Margashirsha and Paush, fear of fire in Magh and building a house in the month of Falgun, Lakshmi is attained. The months of building a house – Vaishakh month, Shravan, Margashirsh and Falgun month are the best months for starting the house. Griha should not be started in the month of Kartik and Magha from Mantar.

It is best to build a house till the fifth day of Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha, except for the auspicious Panchami of Krishna Paksha-Shraadh Paksha and Trayodashdin Paksha. Auspicious dates - 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15 are auspicious at the beginning of the house. That is, except for Pratipada, Rikta, Amavasya and Ashtami, all other dates are considered auspicious. Auspicious days - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday are considered good for home beginnings. Sunday and Tuesday should be discarded.
