Margashirsha month is starting from 20 November 2021, which is the 9th month according to the Hindi calendar. Margashirsha is also called 'Aghan' in common language. It is believed that Satyug was established from the month of Margashirsha. Maha sage Kashyap established the state of Kashmir in the month of Margashirsha itself. This month is considered very holy in itself because Lord Shri Krishna himself has said – I am Margashirsha in the month.
What to do in the month of Margashirsha
Worship of Lord Krishna in the month of Margashirsha or Aghan is considered very good. Taking a bath in a holy river or lake this month is considered very rewarding. According to the beliefs, one should start wearing thick clothes in the month of Margashirsha. Cumin (spice) should be discarded in the fire. It is considered very good to massage oil on the body in the month of Aghan.

With Kartik Purnima, the month of Kartik ended on 19 November 2021 and from 20 November 2021, the favorite month of Lord Shri Krishna, Margashirsha or Aghan is starting. The month of Margashirsha is the ninth month of the Hindu religious calendar. According to religious scriptures, the month of Margashirsha is very holy. The beginning of Satyug is also considered from this month itself. Lord Shri Krishna has said in Shrimad Bhagvat Gita – I am Margashirsha myself in all the twelve months. This clearly shows that this is the favorite month of Krishna.
That's why Margashirsha is called Aghan
There are many arguments behind calling Margashirsha as Aghan month. Lord Krishna is worshiped in many forms and by many names. One of these forms, Margashirsha is also a form of Shri Krishna. It has been said in the scriptures that this month is related to Mrigashira Nakshatra. According to astrology, there are 27 constellations, one of which is Mrigashira Nakshatra. The full moon of this month is associated with Mrigashira Nakshatra. That is why this month is known as Margashirsha month.
