Akshaya Tritiya Religious Significance
1. It holds a special place as the birth anniversary of Lord Parashurama, one of the ten Dashavatars of Lord Vishnu. He was the sixth incarnation of Vishnu and incarnates on earth to destroy the sinners.
2. It is the beginning day of Treta Yuga after Satya Yuga. The time of the beginning of an era has also been of special importance on this day.
3. This is the day when Sudama offered aval to Lord Krishna, who in return blessed him with abundant wealth and happiness. According to the legend, Sudama, a poor Brahmin friend of Shri Krishna, came to his palace with a handful of flattened rice. Sudama had eaten Shri Krishna's share of food in his childhood, therefore, he wanted to return his share of the food. Shri Krishna accepted the humble offering with all his heart and quietly showered luck on his friend. As a result, Sudama's suffering ended and he became a wealthy man. This incident happened on Tritiya Tithi, Vaishakh, Shukla Paksha, and hence its importance.

4. Lord Krishna gave Akshaya Patra to Draupadi. According to the legend, Shri Krishna helped Draupadi and the Pandavas to save them from the wrath of sage Durvasa by turning their empty food vessel into an Akshaya Patra. It is said that sage Durvasa expressed his desire to have food at Draupadi's abode, but the Pandavas did not have food to offer him. Saved and extended his honor and respect.
5. The worship of the day of Akshaya Tritiya is considered special in Jainism because it is said to be so. For the first time in Jainism a method "Ahar Charya" was established for preparing and serving food. Lord Rishabhdev meditated without food and water for six months. Rishabhdev broke his fast of 400 days by consuming sugarcane juice and the time of this day was Akshaya Tritiya.
6. The holy Ganges had descended on the earth. According to folklore, the river Ganga descended on the earth at the behest of King Bhagirath to help his ancestors attain salvation, this is called Akshaya Tritiya.
7. On this day the annual Rath Yatra begins in Puri Jagannath.
8. Ved Vyas started writing the epic Mahabharata.
9. Yamunotri temple and Gangotri temple are opened on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.
This time is very auspicious for the Chardham Yatra to the holy religious places of Hindus and the religious journey starts at this time.
