It is believed that on the day of Baikunth Chaturdashi, Lord Shiva handed over the operation of the universe to Lord Shri Hari Vishnu again after four months. According to religious texts, during the four months for which the Lord goes into a sleep, the creation is controlled by Lord Shiva.
Baikuntha Chaturdashi has special significance in Hinduism. Baikunth Chaturdashi is celebrated every year on Chaturdashi Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month. According to religious beliefs, any person who worships Shrihari or observes a fast on this day attains Baikunth Dham.

According to mythology, once Lord Vishnu took a vow to offer a thousand golden lotus flowers to Lord Shiva in Kashi. During this, Lord Shiva had reduced one golden flower (lotus) from all to take the test of Lord Shri Hari Vishnu. Lord Vishnu started dedicating his 'Lotus Nayan' eye when the flowers fell, Lord Shiva was pleased to see this devotion and said that from now onwards the Chaturdashi of this Shukla Paksha of Kartik month will be known as 'Baikunth Chaudas'. It is believed that the gates of heaven are opened for those who observe Baikuntha Chaturdashi fast on the Chaturdashi date of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month.

Worship method of Baikunth Chaturdashi
Keep fast throughout the day after dealing with bath etc. in the morning, Worship Lord Shri Hari Vishnu with 108 lotus flowers at night. After this, worship of Lord Shiva Shankar also needs to be done.This mantra should be chanted while worshipping: Vina yo haripujan to kuryad rudraksha charchanam.
