Bhagvad Geeta is considered a very pious and holy book in Sanatan Dharma. The author of this book is Shree Ved Vyas Ji. Every fast and festival holds a certain importance in Sanatan Dharma. Geeta Jayanti is celebrated on Ekadshi Tithi of Shukla Paksh in the Margshirsh month.
New Delhi: As described in the religious texts and Puranas of Sanatan Dharma, Lord Shri Krishna had preached the knowledge present in Geeta to his supreme friend and disciple Arjuna. This is why, Geeta Jayanti holds such great significance. The month of Margshirsh i.e the month of Aghan is especially considered very auspicious. Going according to the Hindi calendar, Geeta Jayanti is celebrated on the Ekadshi Tithi of Shukla Paksh in the month of Margshirsh. This makes Geeta Jayanti fall on 14th December this year. Every fast and festival holds a great and specific importance in Hinduism.
Reading or listening to Geeta on the pious day of Geeta Jayanti is considered to be extremely auspicious. Mokshda Ekadashi also happens to be on this day thus increasing the importance of keeping a fast. It is believed that worshipping Lord Krishna on this day pleases him and can be very fruitful for you. On the occassion of Geeta Jayanti, the recital of Geeta is done in temples. So, if you wish you can go to your nearby temple and listen to the glorious words of Geeta. It is belived that keeping a fast for Mokshda Ekadashi and reciting Geeta can lead to the fulfillment of all your wishes.
In the month of Margshirsh, the Ekadshi of Shukla Paksh will start from 9:32 PM on 13th December and will end by 11:35 PM on 14th December. Devotees can worship Lord Shri Krishna whole day on 14th December.
Geeta Jayanti Importance
Is is described in the Puranas that Lord Shri Krishna preached the Geeta to his supreme friend Arjuna during the Mahabharata war. Geeta contains 18 chapters in which the whole essence of a person's life is described. Along with this, cultural, karmic, religious and practical knowledge is also available in the pages of Geeta. It is believed that a person can change both his/her condition and direction with the help of Geeta.
Geeta Jayanti Worship Method
On the day of Geeta Jayanti, the devotee should wake up at Brahma Mahurat, wear clean clothes after taking a bath, and meditate by keeping Lord Shri Krishna in mind.
After this, an idol or a picture of Shri Krishna should be installed on a clean post

After installing the picture or idol, keep the Bhagvad Geeta at the feet of Lord Shri Krishna.
After this sprikle the holy Gangajal on Geeta and then do the tilak on both Geeta and the picture of Lord Shri Krishna with help of Roli
After this offer flowers to Lord Shri Krishna and Bhagavad Geeta
After this perform the aarti of Lord Shri Krishna with lamp and then offer some sweets to him
After worshipping Lord Shri Krishna, pay respect to the holy Bhagvad Geeta by touching it with your forehead and then read or listen to it.
Bhagvad Geeta is recited in temoles on the occassion of Geeta Jayanti, so if you wish you can go to the temple and listen to words of Geeta there.
