Kajari Teej 2021 : Know the Date, Shubh Muhurat and Significance

Kajari Teej is an auspicious festival considered favorable for married women just like Hartalika Teej and Hariyali Teej. Married women observe fast on this day for the longevity of their husbands and for happiness and prosperity in the house. It is believed that Maa Parvati got Lord Shiva on this day because of her severe penance. Hence, both Parvati and Shiva should be worshipped together with utmost devotion.

Tithi of Kajari Teej
Kajari Teej is observed on Tritiya Tithi, the third day of Krishna Paksha in the month of Bhadrapada or after three days of Raksha Bandhan. Kajari Teej is also known as Kajali Teej. At many places, it is also known as Satudi Teej and Boorhi Teej. This is mainly celebrated in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Rajasthan with great zeal and fervor. This year Kajari Teej is on 25th August.

How to Worship on Kajari Teej
On this day married women observe fast for the longevity of their husband whereas unmarried women fast to get an ideal groom. To begin with, the pooja, offers pure water, roli, and akshat to Maa Nimadi. Thereafter adorn Her with Mehandi, Kajal, and Vastra. Then offer her fruits and Dakshina. Add roli on Kalash and then wrap it with Laccha. Lit an earthen lamp with ghee where Pooja is to be done and then chant Mantra of Shiva and Parvati. Once the Pooja is completed, distribute “Suhagan” related things to any married woman and then seek her blessing.


Significance of Kajari Teej
Kajari Teej is among the three Teej celebrated in India, Hariyali Teej and Hartalika Teej. These three Teej are considered to be very auspicious for married women, not only for them but also for women of marriageable age. It is one of the most celebrated festivals among Hindu married women and so they wait for it eagerly. On this day women observe fast for the well-being and longevity of their husband and so that their married life is full of happiness, love, and respect. It is one of the toughest fasts where women observing fast do not even drink water. Women sing songs on this day related to short separation from their husband (as most women go to their parents home for doing rituals), pray to the moon, and worship Maa Parvati and Shiva as it is believed that Maa Parvati got the togetherness of Shiva by great penance on this day. Hence, they are worshipped with utmost devotion. It is also believed that when unmarried women observe this fast, they get an idea and loving husband. Hence, Kajari Teej holds great significance among Hindu devotees.
