The month of Sawan is very important in Hinduism. Shiv bhakts eagerly wait for this month. Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati are worshipped by everyone throughout this month. This time the month of Sawan begins on July 25. In this month Shiva devotees go on Kanwar yatra. This journey is very important for the kanwarias. However, there is a state of doubt about the Kanwar yatra due to corona this year.
In the month of Sawan, the kanwarias bring Ganga Jal on their shoulders and offer it to the famous Jyotirlinga. In the meantime, devotees can not keep the Kanwar on the ground. People who offer Kanwar are called kanwarias. Most Kanwarias wear saffron-coloured clothes and fill their Kanwar's with Ganga water from pilgrimage places like Gaumukh, Prayagraj, Haridwar and Gangotri. They then travel on foot and offer it on the Shivlinga.

According to religious beliefs, Lord Parshuram was the first to bring a Kanwar and anoint Shivlinga with Gangajal. It is believed that all the wishes of those who offer Kanwar in the month of Sawan are fulfilled
On the other hand, some believe that Shravan Kumar was the first to visit Kanwar in the Treta Yuga. His blind parents had expressed their desire to bathe in the Ganges in Haridwar. Shravan Kumar sat in Kanwar and took a bath in Haridwar, fulfilling the wishes of his parents. On his way back, Shravan Kumar brought Gangajal and offered it to Shivlinga. This is considered to be the beginning of the Kanwar Yatra

Rules of Kanwar Yatra
1. It is believed that the rules of Kanwar yatra are extremely strict. In addition, they face a variety of other difficulties
2. It is considered prohibited to get drunk during the Kanwar yatra. In addition, eating meaty food is also forbidden.
3. Kanwad should not be kept on the ground during the Kanwar yatra. If you want to stay somewhere, place it at a high place in the stand or tree. It is said that if a person puts down the Kanwar, he has to start the journey again by filling Gangajal.
4. There is a rule to walk during the Kanwar yatra. If you are travelling on completion of a vow, travel according to the same vow.
