Shri Krishna Janmashtami, the birth of Hindu God Krishna is around the corner of this month-end. It is believed that Shri Krishna, the 8th incarnation of Lord Vishnu was born on the 8th in the month of Bhadrapad. This year Janmashtami is celebrated on Monday, 30 August. It is an annual Hindu festival also known as Gokulashtami and Krishnashtami. On this day devotees fast for the whole day. To save everyone from drowning he lifted the Govardhan parvat on his little finger and broke the ego of Lord Indra. During the court of Dhritarashtra, when Draupadi was insulted and cheerharan was going on he extended the length of her saree. He again gave life to Abhimanyu's unborn child in Utara's womb who was later known as Parikshit. He also cursed Ashvadhama to stay immortal until this universe is there. The counting of his miracles is infinite.
