On this day, wake up in the morning and take a bath and wear clean clothes. After this take a wooden post and install a statue or picture on it. Offer flowers to her and meditate on the mother. Then light a lamp in front of the mother. Then offer fruits, flowers, and naivedya to the mother. Perform aarti of mother and chant mantras. Kanya Puja is performed on this day. On this day nine girls and one boy are worshipped. They are called home and fed. Girls and children should be presented according to their capacity. Then take blessings by touching their feet and send them off.

According to mythology, Mother Parvati had done severe penance in her previous birth to get Lord Shiva as her husband and got Shiva as her husband. After this, Shankar ji washed the body of the mother with Gangajal. Then Gauri's body became bright and radiant. Then she became famous as Goddess Mahagauri.
