Pitru Paksha ka Daan: According to the Hindi Panchang, the Pitru Paksha of the year 2021 will start from 21st September and end on 6th October. In Hinduism, the period of this Pitru Paksha is considered very sacred and holy. It is a religious belief that in this holy period, ancestors come to earth from Yamalok and bless their families. For the self-satisfaction of their ancestors, the family also offers them with Pind Daan and there is a law to perform Shradh during this period. Apart from this, some things are donated for the satisfaction of ancestors on the auspicious day of Pitru Paksha. Food for charity or Amanndan
In Hindu religious texts, the donation of food during this holy period of Pitru Paksha is considered to be the best. The hungry, poor and needy Brahmins should be fed during this period. If it is not possible to provide food, then food items like flour, rice, pulses, vegetables, ghee, jaggery, salt etc. should be donated. This is called direct or aamna daan.
