Since childhood, Meerabai was in love with Krishna

A story is heard behind Princess Meera's becoming a devotee of Krishna, according to which it is told that once upon a time there was a procession of a wealthy person in her neighborhood. At that time Meerabai was still in her childhood. All the women were standing on the terrace watching the procession.

Meerabai also came on the terrace to see the procession. Seeing the procession, Meera asked her mother who is my bridegroom, but Meerabai's mother in ridicule pointed to the idol of Lord Krishna and said that this is your bridegroom. This thing got absorbed like a knot in Meerabai's child and she started considering Krishna as her husband.

 Life of Meerabai

Meerabai was the princess of Medwa Rajkul of Jodhpur, Rajasthan. She was the only child of her father Ratan Singh. When Meerabai was young, her mother died, after which her grandfather Rao Duda brought her to Merta and it was here that Meerabai was brought up under her care. Meerabai's mind was engrossed in Krishna-bhakti since childhood. The princess had devoted her mind to Shri Krishna from her childhood and from childhood to youth she devoted her whole life to Shri Krishna. Meerabai had accepted Krishna as her husband, so she did not want to marry another man, after which she was married against her wish to Prince Bhojraj.

Meera's devotion to Krishna increased after the death of her husband

Shortly after Meerabai's marriage, her husband died, after which she became more and more absorbed in Krishna devotion. Meerabai wanted to do sati with her husband but she did not agree to it because she considered Krishna as her master. It is said that for this reason she did not even remove her adornment. It is said that her husband's last rites were performed in her absence.

After the death of Meerabai's husband, her devotion increased day by day. She used to get so absorbed in the temple that she used to dance for hours in front of the idol of Shri Krishna. For this reason, Meerabai's devotion to Krishna was not liked by her husband's family. Therefore, attempts were made to kill her many times, sometimes by giving poison and sometimes by poisonous snakes. But by the grace of Shri Krishna nothing happened to Meerabai.
