The benefits of Pradosh fasting have been told in Skanda Purana. According to Hindu scriptures, one who observes Pradosh Vrat with utmost sincerity and purity can easily please Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. Pradosh Vrat is a popular Hindu fast, dedicated to Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati. It is celebrated bi-monthly on the Trayodashi Tithi of both Shukla Paksha and Krishna Paksha of every Hindu lunar calendar.

Pradosh Vrat 2021: Significance
 
The benefits of Pradosh fasting have been told in Skanda Purana. According to Hindu scriptures, one who observes Pradosh Vrat with utmost sincerity and purity can easily please Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati.
 
This is because on this day, they are extremely happy and generous and bestow abundant blessings and good fortune. Pradosh Vrat is also observed for spiritual upliftment and fulfillment of all wishes.
 
Pradosh Vrat 2021: Rituals
 
  • As the meaning of Pradosha is 'pertaining to the evening', this fasting ritual is performed during Sandhyakal which is in the evening.
  •  Devotees get ready for the rituals after taking a bath before sunset.
  •  Lord Shiva is worshiped along with Mata Parvati, Lord Ganesha, Lord Kartikeya and holy Nandi. Some people have made these idols out of clay.  
  • An urn filled with water is placed on the Darba grass at the place of worship. Lord Shiva is worshiped and invoked in the Kalash.
  •  Abhishek is done, Shivling is bathed with various holy substances which include milk, curd, ghee, honey, perfume, cannabis, sandalwood, water etc. Bilva leaves are offered as they are very auspicious. 
  • Pradosh Vrat Katha is recited. 
  • The Maha Mrityunjaya mantra is enchanted.
  •  Aarti is performed.
  • Devotees go to the temples of Lord Shiva
  • By worshiping Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati duly on this day, the obstacles of births end and Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati fulfill all the wishes of the devotees.
