All the daughters of Daksha Prajapati were virtuous. Still, there was no satisfaction in Daksha's mind. They wanted that such a daughter should be born in their house, who is full of power and is all victorious. So Daksha started doing penance for one such daughter. Many days passed while doing penance, then Bhagwati Aadya appeared and said, 'I am pleased with your penance. Why are you doing penance? When Daksha told the reason for doing penance, then the mother said that I myself will take birth in your daughter's form. My name will be Sati.

I will expand my pastimes by taking birth as Sati. As a result, Bhagwati Aadya was born in the form of Sati to Daksha. Sati was the most supernatural among all the daughters of Daksha. Sati had performed many such supernatural wonders in her childhood itself, seeing which Daksha himself used to amaze. When Sati became marriageable, Daksha started worrying about the groom for her. He consulted Brahma Ji in this matter.

Brahma Ji said Sati is the incarnation of Aadya. Ada is the Adi Shakti and Shiva is the Adi Purush. Therefore, Shiva is the only worthy and proper groom for the marriage of Sati. Daksha agreed to Brahma Ji and married Sati with Lord Shiva. Sati went to Kailash and started living with Lord Shiva. Lord Shiva was the son-in-law of Daksha, but due to some reason, hatred and opposition developed in the heart of Daksha towards Lord Shiva.
Once in Devlok, Brahma had organized a meeting for the representation of religion. All the great deities gathered in the meeting. Lord Shiva was also sitting in this meeting. Daksha arrived in the meeting hall. On the arrival of Daksha, all the gods stood up, but Lord Shiva did not stand up. He did not even bow down to Daksha. As a result, Daksha felt humiliated. Not only this, the fire of jealousy towards Lord Shiva burned in his heart. They waited for time and opportunity to take revenge on him.
Once Sati and Shiva were talking to each other while sitting on Mount Kailash. At the same time, many planes were seen from the sky route towards Kankhal. Seeing those planes, Sati asked Lord Shiva, 'Lord, whose are all these planes and where are they going? Lord Shankar replied, Your father has organized a big Yagya. All the gods and goddesses are going to participate in the same yagya sitting in these planes.
On this Sati asked another question, didn't my father invite you to attend the Yagya?

Lord Shankar replied, Your father hates me, then why did he start calling me?

Sati started thinking in her mind and then said that all my sisters will definitely come on this occasion of Yagya. It's been a long time since I met him. If you have permission, I also want to go to my father's house. I will participate in the yagya and will also get a chance to meet sisters.

Lord Shiva replied it would not be appropriate to go there at this time. Your father hates me, maybe he insults you too. It is not appropriate to go to someone's house without an invitation. On this Sati asked why? Lord Shiva answered that a married girl should not go to her father's house without calling, because after marriage the girl becomes her husband. He breaks up at his father's house. But Sati persisted in going to Pehar. He kept repeating his words over and over again. Seeing his wish, Lord Shiva gave permission to go to Pehar. He also sent one of his Gana along with him, the name of that Gana was Veerabhadra. Sati accompanied Virbhadra to her father's house.
No one in the house had a loving conversation with Sati. Daksha saw them and said, have you come here to insult me? Look at your sisters, how they are adorned with all kinds of ornaments and beautiful clothes. You have only tigers on your body. Your husband is a crematorium and a hero of ghosts. What else can he wear leaving you Baghambar? Due to the words of Daksha, an ocean of repentance rose in the heart of Sati. She started thinking that she did not do well by coming here. God was rightly saying, one should not even go to the father's house without calling. But what can happen now? Now I have come.
Sati remained silent even after hearing her father's bitter and derogatory words. She went to the Yagya Mandal where all the gods and sages were sitting and sacrifices were being made in the burning fire in the Yagyakund. Sati saw the parts of all the deities in the Yagyamandapa but did not see the part of Lord Shiva. Seeing the part of Lord Shiva, she spoke to her father as Pitrushrestha! Everyone's parts are visible in the Yagya, but there is no part of Kailashpati. Why didn't you keep their share? Daksha replied proudly, I do not consider your husband Shiva as a deity. He is the lord of ghosts, the naked one, and the one who wears a garland of bones. He is not fit to sit in the line of deities. Who will run him?

Sati's eyes were red with anger. His face shone like the sun of doomsday. He trembled with pain and said Oh! How am I hearing these words, I am sorry. God damn you too! How are you even listening to these words for the Kailashpati who is the symbol of Mars and who has the power to destroy the entire creation in a moment? They are my master. For a woman, her husband in heaven. A woman who hears derogatory words against her husband has to go to hell. Hear the earth, listen to the sky and the gods, listen to you too! My father has insulted my master. I don't want to live even a moment now. Sati ended her statement and jumped into the pool of Yagya. With the burning sacrifices, his body also started burning.  There was an uproar in the Yagyamandap, there was an outcry. The gods stood up. Virbhadra trembled with anger. They jumped and started destroying the Yagya. A stampede broke out in the Yagyamandapa. The gods and sages ran away. Virabhadra cut off Daksha's head and threw it away. Lord Shiva also got the news. They reached Kankhal like a strong storm. Seeing the burnt body of Sati, Lord Shiva forgot himself. The love of Sati and her devotion disturbed Shankar's mind. disturbed the mind of Shankara who had also conquered the Kama and who had the ability to destroy the whole creation. He got lost in the love of Sati, became unconscious.
Like a maniac, Lord Shiva carried the burnt body of Sati on his shoulder. They started traveling in all directions. Seeing this supernatural love of Shiva and Sati, the earth stopped, the wind stopped, the flow of water stopped and the breath of the gods stopped. Disappointment! Seeing the terrible crisis present, Lord Vishnu, the guardian of the universe, moved forward. In the unconsciousness of Lord Shiva, he started cutting off every part of Sati with his chakra. In fifty-one places on the earth, the parts of Sati were cut off. When all the parts of Sati were cut off, Lord Shiva again came into himself. When He came in Himself, then all the works of creation started going on again.
Fifty-one places on the earth where Sati's limbs were cut off, those places are considered as Shaktipeeths today. Even today Sati is worshiped and worshiped in those places. Blessed was the love of Shiva and Sati. The love of Shiva and Sati made him immortal and venerable.
