Mythology related to Shani Pradosh
Shani Dev and Lord Shiva are worshiped on the day of Shani Pradosh because according to mythology, this day is dedicated to Lord Shani and Lord Shankar. According to the legend related to Shani Pradosh, at one time the Seth of a city was living his life with full amenities. Despite having all the comforts, he used to be very unhappy, because he did not have any children. So he was not happy with the money he earned. Due to the lack of children, they used to find their accumulated wealth in vain. So the time came when Seth ji handed over his property to his servants and himself went on pilgrimage.

During this pilgrimage, he had a vision of a monk who was absorbed in his spiritual practice. Seth ji, wishing for the blessings of that meditative monk, bowed to him and sat near him. Along with Seth, his wife also sat with him and decided that only after the blessings of this ascetic he would start his further journey. When the sage opened his eyes, he found both of them close to him and he had come to know that he had been sitting beside them for a long time only in the longing for blessings.

Faith
Seeing this faith of his, the ascetic was pleased and said that I know what misery you are suffering from. Then, giving blessings to Seth Ji, the monk ordered him to observe Shani Pradosh fast and said that all your sorrows will be destroyed by this fast. Along with this, you will also get the happiness of children. The sage told Seth ji about the whole method. In which it was told that the complete method of worship and worship of Lord Shiva was told. After this Seth and Sethani continued their pilgrimage. After this pilgrimage, Seth and Sethani observed the fast told by the ascetic, following all the rituals. Due to this, they got the child soon. After this fast, a wave of happiness came into his life.
