Kheer is made from cow's milk and all the gods and goddesses reside in the milk. Kharna's prasad is made with the help of natural things like mango wood and earthen stove to infuse positive energy due to divinity in the devotees.
According to astrologers, the three wives of King Dasharatha had taken Yagnik Kheer during the Putrakameshti Yagya in Treta Yuga. The effect of the divinity of this kheer was such that the three queens of King Dasharatha got sons like Lord Rama, Lakshmana, Bharata and Shatrughna.
