As per Hindu Calendar, every year Krishna Janamashtami is celebrated on the eighth day of Krishan Paksh of Bhadrapada month. So as per this, this year Janmashtami will begin from Sunday, 29th August at 11:25 PM to Monday, 30th August till 1:59 AM. Devotees have been confused about the date as this time of the festival is going to span over for two days. There are some who are confident about Janmashtami being on 29th but then there is a majority who are saying Janmashtami is on 30th August. But as per some astrologers, after many years there is going to be this coincidence where both Vaishanvs and the common devotees will be observing fast and celebrating the festival on the same day. If it is to be believed then almost after 100 years the birth anniversary of Shri Krishna will be celebrated on this day along with the celebration of Krishna Janmashtami.

According to the Shrimad Bhagwat Purana as well, Krishna was born on the eighth day of Bhadrapada month on a Monday of Rohini Nakshatra and in Taurus Zodiac at midnight. The same occurrence will be taking place on 30th August, the day when we will be celebrating Janmashtami or Gokul Ashtami. As Moon will be in Rohini Nakshatra and in Taurus sign. There will also be the occurrence of Rohini Nakshatra and the birth anniversary.
