Worship of Vamana Deva on Baruthini Ekadashi
On the day of Baruthini Ekadashi, Lord Vamana, who is known as the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped with full devotion. Lord Shri Vishnu took the Vamana avatar for the welfare of all the worlds and established King Bali in the Hades.
 
The word 'Varuthini' in Hindi means 'protected or protected' and hence it is believed that a person who observes Varuthini Ekadashi fast is protected from all evils and is blessed with good fortune and wealth. Every year the person who observes this Ekadashi with devotion gets a name, fame, and prosperity.
 
Worship of Varuthini Ekadashi
Like all Ekadashis, Shri Puja and fasting are observed on the devotee Varuthini Ekadashi. On this day, devotees spend the day chanting the name of God without eating or drinking anything. Following the rules of Ekadashi, religious works are done on this day. One who observes a fast on this day should take food only once a day before the day of Dashami. The fast then start on Ekadashi and continues till sunrise on the day of Dwadashi. It is strictly forbidden to eat rice, gram, pulses, betel nut, betel, honey, and non-vegetarian food on Varuthini Ekadashi.
 
Vamana, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is worshiped on Varuthini Ekadashi. Devotees arrange special puja for this day and also follow some specific rules to make it more fruitful. One should abstain from sleeping, anger, gambling, applying oil to the body, and promoting any kind of ill-will towards others on the day of Varuthini Ekadashi. Wrong actions and violence should be completely avoided.
