Story behind Tungnath Temple:-
Mythology about this temple is prevalent. It is said that the Pandavas were accused of killing their brothers when they were victorious in the war of Mahabharata. In such a situation, the Pandavas wanted to get rid of the sin of bribery. For this it was necessary to get the blessings of Lord Shankar but Lord Shiva did not want to meet the Pandavas.

The Pandavas went to Kashi for their darshan, but they did not meet there either. Then they went to the Himalayas looking for him, but still they did not see God.
Lord Shiva settled in Kedarnath but the Pandavas were firm in their intentions. They followed him to Kedarnath.

By then Lord Shiva had taken the form of a bull but the Pandavas became suspicious. In such a situation, Bhima took his huge form and spread his legs on two mountains. All other cows and bulls got out, but how did the bulls of Shankar come out from under Bhima's feet. As soon as Bhima wanted to catch that bull, he slowly started getting inside the ground.  Bhima grabbed a portion of the bull. Seeing the devotion and determination of the Pandavas, Lord Shankar was pleased and he appeared to the Pandavas and freed them from sin.

From the same time, the shape of the back of Lord Shankar's bull is worshiped in Kedarnath in the form of a body. It is believed that when the Lord appeared as a bull, the upper part of his torso appeared in Kathmandu. Now there is a temple of Pashupatinath.
Shiva's arms appeared in Tungnath, Mukh Rudranath, Navel Madamder and Jata Kalpare, hence Kedarnath is called Panchkedar with all these four places. There are grand temples of Shiva here.

Mukkhu Monastery is situated on the Oukhi Math-Chopta Marg. Mukkha Math is reached by road. Then the journey of about 3.5 kilometers is done on foot. The attractiveness of nature and mountain beauty in the Himalayas is completed by visiting here. Passing through the thick forest, the path to the temple leaves its mark in the mind of the devotees forever. This place is perfectly suitable for those seekers who wish to practice in solitude.
