The story of Ahoi Ashtami is as follows: - In ancient times, there was a moneylender who had seven sons and seven daughters-in-law. Once, when the seven daughters-in-law went to the forest to collect soil to decorate the house on Diwali, their sister-in-law also went with them. At the place where the moneylender's daughter used to dig soil, there was a house of Syahu, and while digging the soil, a child of a porcupine from the moneylender's daughter accidentally died.
Angered by this, the porcupine starts cursing her that I will bind her womb. In such a situation, the youngest sister-in-law apologized and took the curse on herself in place of her sister-in-law. After this, all the children of the younger sister-in-law would die, and then the Pandit asked the daughter-in-law to serve the Surhi cow to get rid of this curse. The daughter-in-law does the same and happy with the service, the Surhi cow takes her to Syahu. She goes. When they get tired on the way, both of them start resting.
Suddenly the moneylender's younger daughter-in-law looks to one side and sees that a snake is about to bite Garuda's baby and she kills the snake. Meanwhile, Garuda Pankhani comes there and sees the blood scattered, she thinks that The younger daughter-in-law has killed her child, and on this she starts pecking at the younger daughter-in-law.
Then the daughter-in-law says that she has saved the life of that child, then she is happy to see her child alive and takes both of them to Sahi. Where she serves the porcupine and then the porcupine tells her to go home and worship Ahoi Mata, then she will get the happiness of having a child.
