According to Hindu religious textbooks, Lord Ganesha was born on Shukla Chaturthi during Bhadrapada lunar month which is between August and September and Ganesh Chaturthi marks the birth of Lord Ganesha.
Right way of worshiping and chanting Jai Ganesha Deva
The best time to chant Ganesha aarti is early morning after a bath or during the evening.
Make sure that Lord Ganesha’s idol is either facing east or the west direction. But install the idol only on the auspicious timings.
After instilling the idol on a high ground, do Avahana (invocation of Lord Vinayaka) and Pratisthapan (welcoming lord ganesha into the statue).
Before starting and chanting the Ganesha Aarti, one should first blow the Shell looking upward starting to blow in a lower voice then raising it upwards. Light a diya filled with ghee or camphor. Deep-prajawalan with the sankalpa is also done before the start of aarti.
Thereafter, start chanting Jai Ganesha Deva Aarti. Clap while chanting the aarti.
After the aarti continues offer fruits, flowers, water, vastra and dhup-deep to Lord Ganesha.
Vidhi to perform Ganesha Pooja
The vidhi requires few ingredients. During the Aarti flowers, chimes, incense stick, uncooked rice, dhoopbatti, a copper lota, Diya alongside ghee and batti and Ladoo as Prashad are endowed to lord. Ladoo (Modak) is Lord Ganesha's preferred sweet. Together everybody sings the Aarti and offers the flowers and rice to the vighnaharta. Towards the end, joffer Ladoo (Modak) to Lord Ganesha and afterwards circulate it among everybody.
