Bhaum Pradosh Vrat 2022: Know about the Sawan Pradosh fasting, worshiping this way will remove all debts

Pradosh Vrat is a sacred fast for Lord Shiva which is seen celebrated with special fervour and gaiety by the devotees. It is a special day celebrated to please Lord Shiva. It falls on Trayodashi Tithi i.e. 13th day according to the traditional Hindu calendar. This means there is also a law to observe the Pradosh fast twice in 'Shukla Paksha' and 'Krishna Paksha' of every Hindu month. 

When this Pradosh Vrat falls on a Tuesday, it is called 'Bhum Pradosh Vrata. The word 'Bhum' is another name for 'Mars', which is also the presiding deity of Tuesday. The period of twilight is considered the most suitable for performing the Bhaum Pradosh Vrat ritual. It is said in Hindu Puranas that during this time the blessings of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are received. Devotees worship Lord Shiva and observe fast on this day for good luck and prosperity in life.

Worship Rules During Bhaum Pradosh Vrat
On that day of Bhaum Pradosh fast, devotees wake up early and take a bath. The follower of this fast has to take bath even at sunset time. The place in the North-East corner of the house is suitable for worship where it is performed during 'Pradosh Kaal' i.e. the period before evening. The place of worship is cleaned with Gangajal. There Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are seated there. Devotees perform 'Abhishek' and make many offerings to the Lord. While performing the rituals, one should chant the mantras dedicated to Lord Shiva. In the end, aarti is performed and prasad is given to all the people present on the occasion.

The glory of Bhaum Pradosh Vrat is present in many texts and a special description is found in Shaiva texts. Bhaum Pradosh Vrat is an auspicious day for the devotees of Lord Shiva. When Pradosh Vrat is observed on Tuesday, it is popularly known as Bhaum Pradosh Vrat. This day has special significance as there are many legends related to Lord Shiva and Mangal. According to Hindu scriptures, Bhauma or the planet Mars had done severe 'penance' and attained Mars Lok by pleasing Lord Shiva. Hence it is believed that for the person who observes Bhaum Pradosh Vrat and worships Lord Shiva, all his wishes are fulfilled.

Women observe this holy fast for the attainment of children. The power of Bhaum Pradosh Vrat is such that it removes all obstacles and hostile forces in life and also purifies the surrounding environment.
