According to the legend mentioned in Matsuya Planam and  Shiva Planam, there were three demons, Vidunmari, Tarakakusha, and Villiavana, all of which were called Tripura. They played Tapasha and were blessed by Sir Brahma. The blessing was that the gods would build three beautiful cities of gold, iron and silver for Asura, respectively. All three fortresses are collectively called Tripla. However, the prophecy states that only one arrow can destroy a city.
Demons from all over the world came to the palace and lived there. After the first self-enjoyment, they eventually began to annoy the people of the Empire. They cheated even against Rishi and Maharishi, terrorized the common people, and finally challenged the gods. Therefore, Sir Indra, accompanied by other gods, went to Sir Brahma to  end Tripla, but Sir Brahma could not help and asked her to ask Lord Shiva. Shiva obeyed and the war between Deva and Asura began. He also sought help from the goddess Parvati, both in the form of "Ardha Narya Nateshwar" and landed on Earth.
To destroy Tripla, Lord Shiva asked Vishwakarma to build a tank. Tanks had special characteristics. Goddess Earth (Prithvi) became a tank, the sun and moon became  wheels, Sir Brahma became Sarati, Mt. Meru became a bow, Serpent Vasuki became a string, and Sir Vishnu became an arrow. Lord Shiva burned them down, as the three cities were united. Then the gods asked Lord Shiva to  rest there and make the place his home. Lord Shiva turned himself into a lingam and made the Bimashankar Mountains his home.

History

The Bimashan Karam Shrine  was mentioned in  the 13th century literature. Built in  Nagara  architecture, this temple is a humble yet elegant temple dating back to the 18th century. It is also influenced by the architectural style of Indo-Aryan. You can see that the lingam is in the middle of the floor of the temple Garbhagriha (Sanctum Sanctorum). The pillars and door frames of the temple are adorned with intricate sculptures of sacred beings dotted with figures. Mythical scenes are reflected in these magnificent sculptures. Within the temple grounds, there is also a small shrine dedicated to Lord Shanimahatma (also known as Shanaeshwara). Nadi's idol, Lord Shiva's Vahhan (vehicle), was installed at the entrance of the temple, like all Shiva temples. This temple is closely related to the legend of Shiva, who killed the demon Tripura associated with the invincible flying citadel "Tripura". Lord Shiva is said to have lived in the form of "Beema Shankara" on the top of the Sahyadri hill at the request of the gods, and the sweat flowing from his body after the battle is said to have formed the Bemalati River. The Goprasikara of the Temple was built by Nana Fado Navis. The great Marathi ruler Shivaji is also said to have donated the temple to promote the practice of religious service. Like the other Shiva temples in the area, the sanctuary is at a lower level. The "Temple of Shani" is located in the main complex of the Temple of Bimashankar.
History reappears on the summit of Sahadris. Bhimashankar – A place where spiritual splendor mixes with nature's splendor is undoubtedly a pilgrim's paradise. There are other temples and shrines near the main hall. There is a Kamalaja shrine near the Bimashankar Temple. Kamalaja is an incarnation of Parvati who helped Shiva in the battle with Tripura. Kamalaja was worshiped by offering lotus flowers to Brahma.
There are shrines of Shivaganam, Shaakini, and Daakini who helped Shiva fight the devil Bima. Kausikamahamuni is said to have done "tapas" there. The place where he took a bath is called Mokshakund Sir Sam, behind the Bimashankar Temple. There are also  Sarvathirtha,  Kusharanya thirtha, where the Bhīmā river begins to flow east, and  Jnyanakund.
