 Religious Significance of Chhath Puja:
This is the only festival in which the Sun God is worshiped . Arghya is given to them. According to the belief, the worship of God Sun is very important. According to Vedic astrology,  God Sun is considered to be the factor of ancestor, honor, and father. According to astrology, offering Arghya to the rising Sun in the month of Kartik is of great importance.

According to Pandit Malviya, all the ethics of Indian culture are mentioned in the Puranas. In all the 18 Puranas, the glory of Lord Surya is glorified, but in the Surya Purana, there is a mention about Suryapasana in detail. Similarly, in the Bhavishya Purana also, there is a detailed mention of the benefits of the rules of conduct regarding the sun and from where the worship of the sun started. Regarding the beginning of the Surya Shashthi fast, it is said that King Samb, who was the son of Lord Shri Krishna, had once contracted leprosy.

When leprosy was not cured after many treatments, a sage asked him to worship the sun to get rid of it. It is believed that the Brahmins who knew the worship of the Sun lived in the divine world at that time. Those whom Garun Devta brought to earth and he recited Yagya and Mantra etc. for 3 days. After this the Brahmins who came from the divine world settled in Vaishali, Magadha and Gaya etc. of Bihar. Since then this worship has been going on continuously.
