Chhath festival related to Mahabharata
The story of the Chhath festival is also related to the Mahabharata period. During this fast, the Pandavas got the pleasure of the throne. According to mythological beliefs, the Chhath festival started during the Mahabharata period. Suryaputra Karna was the first to start worshipping the Sun God. Karna was a great devotee of Lord Surya. He used to stand in the water and worship the Sun and offer Arghya to the Sun. It was only by the grace of Surya that he became a great warrior. Even today the same tradition of donating Arghya during Chhath is prevalent. There is another story about the Chhath festival. According to this, when Pandavas lost their entire kingdom in gambling, Draupadi observed Chhath fast. Their wishes were fulfilled and the Pandavas got their kingdom back.

Story of Priyamvad and Malini
According to the Puranas, King Priyamvad had no children. Then Maharishi Kashyap performed a yagya to get a son and gave the kheer prepared for offering in the yagya to Priyamvad's wife Malini. From this, they had a son, but he was born dead. Priyamvad took his son to the crematorium and started dying due to separation from his son. At the same time, God's mental daughter Devasena appeared and said, I am called Shashthi because I am born from the sixth part of the original nature of the universe. King, you worship me and all your wishes will be fulfilled. The king, wishing to have a son, observed a fast on Goddess Shashthi and was blessed with a son. This puja was performed on Kartik Shukla Shashthi since then this day is considered auspicious for the wish and happiness of having a child.
