Devuthani Ekadashi's special story
According to the legend, in a state, everyone kept fast on Ekadashi. On that day, everyone in the city used to fast on Ekadashi, no one, not even animals and birds, took even a single grain of food on that day. Once in that kingdom a person reached the king's court and expressed his desire to get work, then the king told him that he could give him work but the condition was that he could not get food on the day of Ekadashi fast and he would not be able to get food during this fast. Will have to do that. That person accepted the king's advice but when the Ekadashi fast came, he could not observe it. He started pleading in front of the king that if he did not eat food he would die.

Seeing his condition the king ordered him to give him food. The person reached the river bank, first took a bath, cooked food and offered it to God. Hearing his prayer, God started eating food with the devotee. When the next Ekadashi came, the man asked the king to give him double the food. He remained hungry on the first Ekadashi because God also had food with him on that day. For this reason, more food is needed. The king was surprised to hear what he said. On this, the servant told the king that if you do not believe then you can go and see for yourself. Then the king goes with him. After taking a bath in the river, the servant prepares food and calls out to the Lord. But this time God does not come. Then he said that if you do not come, I will sacrifice my life and then God appears. Seeing this the king came to know that the fruit of fasting is achieved only by purity of mind. After that, the king also started fasting with a true heart. At the end of his life, he also attained heaven.
