Ganeshotsav is celebrated everywhere
The festival of Ganeshotsav is celebrated with joy and gaiety across the country. In Maharashtra, Telangana, Gujarat, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Goa, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh, the festival is worshiped by families and groups by setting up raw clay idols of Lord Ganesha at home and in public pandals. The last day of Ganeshotsav is celebrated as Anant Chaturdashi (Anant Chaudash). In Indian states like Maharashtra and Gujarat, this festival is celebrated as Ganesh Visarjan. On the 10th day of Ganesh Utsav, idols of Lord Ganesha are immersed in a large source of water like sea, river or lake with great pomp. In some parts of North India, people wear 14 knots of thread in their hands as a form of resolution. This sacred thread is called Anant and hence this festival is called Anant Chaturdashi.
What is the history of Ganeshotsav
The festival of Ganeshotsav holds a special place in Hinduism. The worship of Shri Ganesh ji has been done first in every work. In such a situation, Ganapati has got a place as the main deity. The nature of Ganesh worship is seen in every colour, but when we talk about this ten-day festival, then this festival has a different history as well. It is estimated that during the time of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj during 1630-1680, Ganesh Chaturthi festival was celebrated as a public function. In Shivaji's time, this Ganeshotsav was regularly celebrated as the totem of his empire. It was revived by Lokmanya Tilak in 1893.
