The fast of Jyestha Gauri Puja is observed on the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month. This fast is observed in very few houses. According to the stories, all the women suffering from troubles in life went to Shri Mahalakshmi Gauri and prayed to her to make their marriage permanent. On the Ashtami Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month, Shri Mahalakshmi Gauri killed the demons and made the husbands of the women who took shelter and the creatures of the earth happy. Gauri Puja's importance and mythological context
The time of Gauri Puja is celebrated in the month of Bhadrapada. In the scriptures, she has been described as the mother of Lord Ganesha and the elder sister of Goddess Lakshmi. That is why he is also called Jeshtha. It is said in Padma Purana that at the time when the ocean was churned, Jyestha Gauri had incarnated in the form of Jyestha when the poison came out.


Gauri puja method
On the day of Jyeshtha Gauri Vrat, the idol of Mata Gauri is installed at an auspicious time. Bathe the idol of Mata Gauri with water cover it with a cloth and keep it on a clean platform. Then the mother should be dressed in saree and sixteen adornments should be done. Tilak of turmeric and kumkum should be applied on the forehead of the goddess.
