Dwadashi of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month is worshipped as Govatsa Dwadashi. The cow is worshipped on this day and the wish for the happiness of children is also fulfilled. According to religious stories, worshipping the mother cow and her calf on this day always brings happiness and prosperity to the children in life. According to tradition, this is considered very special. According to religious belief, this fast is observed for the long life of children. Both cow and calf are worshipped together in the morning and evening. On this day, a cow with a calf should be worshipped and prasad should be taken after listening to the story.

Govatsa Dwadashi gives happiness to children
According to religious belief, this fast protects the children in all respects. On this day, one should accept Prasad after listening to the story. The festival of Gau Vatsa is celebrated on the Dwadashi date of Krishna Paksha of Kartik month. Cow and calf are worshipped on this occasion. It is said in Indian religious Puranas that all the places of pilgrimage reside in Mother Cow. The respected mother cow is such a mother whom neither any god nor any pilgrimage can match. By merely seeing Mother Cow, one attains such virtue which cannot be attained even by performing big yagyas, donations etc.

That is why on the day of Bachh Baras i.e. Govatsa Dwadashi, women celebrate this festival for the safety, long life and prosperity of their son. Lord Shri Vishnu is also worshipped on this day. On the day of Dwadashi, along with worshipping Shri Vishnu, listening to Bhagwat Katha is also done. Explaining its importance in the scriptures, it is said that on this auspicious day the women of the house worship Mother Cow. She satisfies him by feeding him bread and green fodder, that house is always blessed by Goddess Lakshmi and there is never an untimely death in that family.
