Every year on the day of Kartik Purnima, it is celebrated as Guru Nanak Dev Jayanti. The time of the first Guru Nanak Dev Ji of Sikhs is also celebrated as Prakash Parv. As much as this festival is special for those who follow Sikhism, it is equally special for all those who know devotion towards the Guru. Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated on a very special day of Kartik month on Purnima Tithi, this day is also known by many names out of which Prakash Parv or Guru Parv has been this special day.

This festival is considered the most important for the Sikh community, because on this day Guru Nanak Dev, who founded the Sikh community, was born. Guru Nanak Dev was the first Guru of the Sikh community and he enlightened every life. Even today his teachings are established as the best words for his followers.

Every year the festival of Guru Nanak Jayanti is celebrated on the auspicious time of Kartik month. On this day, religious rituals like Akhand Path, Nagar Kirtan etc. rituals are performed in Gurudwaras. Devotees take a pledge to follow his words. This year Guru Nanak Jayanti will be celebrated by devotees on 27 November 2023. Guru Nanak Dev was born in the year 1469 on the day of Kartik Purnima. Kartik Purnima Tithi will start at 3.53 PM on 26th November 2023 and will end at 2.45 PM the next day on 27th November 2023
