Significance of Narasimha Jayanti

Asura Raj Hiranyakashipu believed himself as most powerful & unbeatable he used to torture His son Prahlad who was a devotee of Lord Vishnu & used to worship Lord Vishnu. He did not stop worshiping Lord Vishnu even after his father's tortures. To protect his devotee Prahlada, Lord Vishnu took the avatar of Narasimha in the middle of the day and night, with the body of half man and half lion. He appeared by tearing the pole in Narasimha avatar and dragged Hiranyakashipu and kept him on his foot in the middle of the main door, tore his stomach with his sharp nails like a lion and killed him. Like this, he protected his devotee Prahlada. That is why that day is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanti.
