What is Durga Saptashati?

Durga Saptashati is a part of Markandeya Purana. It is also called 'Durga Saptashati' due to the 700 verses in it. It is said that this is a discussion between Markandeya and Lord Brahma on the glory of the Goddess.
 Durga Saptashati has been made a separate book by removing this part of Markandeya Purana. Now it has been taken from the Markandeya Purana of Ved Vyas, so many consider Ved Vyas as the author. There are 3 characters in the 3 parts of Durga Saptashati namely Mahakali, Mahalakshmi and Mahasaraswati.

Let us tell you that this is Devimahatmyam, which means describing the greatness of the Goddess. There is a religious text of Hindus in which the victory of Goddess Durga over a demon named Mahishasura is described.
