 Papankusha Ekadashi is celebrated on the Ekadashi date of Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month.  According to its name, it is called Ekadashi which removes all sins.  What is the importance of this Ekadashi and why this Ekadashi is considered very important in Hinduism, let us know.  Each Ekadashi that falls in a year has a significance and is celebrated for a different purpose.  The name Papankusha Ekadashi itself suggests that a person who keeps a fast on this Ekadashi gets freedom from all kinds of sins.

 Papakunsha Ekadashi's this year will be celebrated on 6th October.  Ekadashi date will start from 12:01 on October 5, it will remain till 09:41 on October 6, the next day.  According to religious beliefs, the person who recites Bhagavad Gita on this day  gets a lot of benefits.  It is also said that a person who observes a fast on this day attains virtue and all his sins are destroyed.

 What is the significance of Papkusha Ekadashi?  It is mentioned in the Puranas that what is Papakunsha Ekadashi, its importance was told by Shri Krishna to Yudhishthira.  This Ekadashi explains to you the difference between sin and virtue and keeps the devotee away from sin and gives him a reward and keeps the devotee away from sin and moves him closer to virtue.  Whoever observes this Ekadashi fast, all the sins committed by him in the past are destroyed.

 Method of Papakunsha Ekadashi Vrat

 People who are fasting on this day should follow this method.  You should not eat grains like wheat, urad, moong, gram, barley, rice and lentils on the day of Papakunsha Ekadashi.  All these grains should be worshiped on the day of Papakunsha Ekadashi.  One has to wake up in the morning and take a bath, after that the resolution of fasting and worship should be taken.  Clean clothes should be worn.  Then after the resolution, the worship of Ekadashi should be started.  For this fast, you have to establish a Kalash and worship Lord Shri Hari Vishnu.  You can have food only on the second day of the fast.

 Do's and Don'ts on Papakunsha Ekadashi 

If you have bad thoughts about someone, then discard it.

 Do not get angry on anyone on this day and do not argue with anyone.

 Try to remain silent as much as possible because it is best to remain silent during this fast... on this day do not do any wrong deeds and worship in all the four Prahars...

 You can also donate yellow things on this day.  Not only this, by serving an elderly person on this day, you can also get freedom from all kinds of sins.  Do not indulge in any luxuries on this day.
Desires should be controlled.  One must also take bath in the Ganges on the day of Ekadashi.  Sesame should be used in the worship of Lord Vishnu.
