Papankusha fasting time and rules
The Ekadashi falling in the Shukla Paksha of Ashwin month is known as Papankusha Ekadashi. This time this Ekadashi is falling on 25 October 2023. Ekadashi fast usually starts after sunset on the evening of Dwadash Tithi. The fast will start on 25th October. This fast is broken only after sunrise on the next day of Ekadashi which is called Paran. Reading the fast story on this day also has special significance. It is said that just by listening to the story one gets the fruits of the fast.

According to the scriptures, once upon a time, there lived a cruel hunter named Krodhna on Mount Vidhyanchala. He did all the bad deeds in his life. When his last time came, Yamraj's messenger came to take him and said your last time has come, now we will come to take you tomorrow. But Krodhna was very afraid of death. Therefore, he became very nervous after hearing the words of Yamraj's messengers. Then suddenly he reached a sage named Angara. He went there and requested help. After listening to Krodhana, the sage told her about the importance of Papankusha Ekadashi and asked her to observe fast on this Ekadashi. The sage told that if Lord Vishnu is worshipped with full devotion and without getting angry and a fast is observed, then all the sins are destroyed and the person attains salvation.
