Pradosh fast method
On the day of Pradosh, one should wake up before sunrise and take a bath. While saluting the ancestors, work related to tarpan should be done. After this, Lord Shiva and his family should be worshipped at home or in a Shiva temple. Rudrabhishek of Shivling should be done with water, ghee, milk, sugar, honey, curd etc. Belpatra, Dhatura quince etc. should be offered on Shivalinga. Lord Shiva should be worshipped with incense, lamps, fruits and flowers. On this day, Purana Chalisa etc. must be recited in praise of Shiva.
Benefits of worshipping Pradosh Vrat
Pradosh puja is done in the evening but on this day, you can worship the whole day from sunrise till night. Rahukaal etc. are not seen in Shiva worship. Lord Shiva's Panchakshari mantra Om Namah Shivay must be chanted. By chanting this mantra and offering puja material one by one to Shivling, all the wishes are fulfilled. Worship done with devotion provides all kinds of auspicious results.
To observe Pradosh fast, it is very auspicious to wake up before sunrise. Offering Belpatra and Akshat to Lord Shiva is considered auspicious. By worshipping Lord Shiva with a lamp, incense, Ganga water etc. all kinds of obstacles are removed. After fasting for the entire time on this day, one should take a bath again sometime before sunset. Worship should be done after bathing and wearing clean clothes.
Pradosh fast which comes at the time of Shradh also provides ancestral blessings. Donation and worship done at this time is very auspicious.
