After this, red clothes should be worn, because this colour is very dear to Ganapati Ji. During the Puja period, the idol of Lord Ganesha should be cleaned thoroughly, and then a new cloth should be spread on a post and its idol should be installed. After this, one should worship Ganpati ji with the Shadshopachar method and keep chanting the basic mantra of Vighnaharta. Shri Ganesh Stotra and Ganesh Chalisa must be recited during worship. At the end, offer aarti to Ganesha and complete your worship by apologising for the mistakes made due to ignorance. This fast, done with faith and devotion, helps bestow complete auspiciousness.
