Importance of the Shattila Ekadashi Worship MethodOn the day of Shattila Ekadashi, one should wake up early in the morning and take a bath. After this, one should meditate on Lord Vishnu and resolve to fast. After installing the idol or picture of Lord Vishnu, sesame should be mixed with Gangajal and sprinkled on the picture. Flowers, incense, etc. should be offered to God. Then, after reciting Lord Vishnu's Sahasranama, Aarti should be performed. After this, sesame seeds should be offered to God. After fasting on this day, worship of Lord Vishnu should be done at night, as should jagran and havan.
After this, on the day of Dwadashi, one should wake up early in the morning and offer food to Lord Vishnu after taking a bath. After offering food to pundits, one should take food himself. It is believed that the more moles you donate in the month of Magh, the greater your chance of living in heaven for thousands of years.
