Skanda Shashthi Vrat is observed on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of Paush month. This fast is dedicated to Lord Kartikeya. The fast of Skanda Shashti is observed on the Shashti Tithi of Shukla Paksha of every month. Lord Kartikeya is duly worshiped on this day. Lord Kartikeya is also known by the names Skanda and Kumar. For this reason it is also called Kumar Shashti.
Lord Skanda is also called by the names of Murugan, Karthikeyan, Subramaniam. This day has a special place in South India. Worship method of Skanda Shashthi fast
One should take bath after retiring from all work. And clean fast should be followed. While meditating on Lord Kartikeya, one should resolve to fast. The beginning of the fast will proceed with a pure mind. Worship should be done methodically by going to the house of worship. First of all, worship of Lord Shiva and Mother Parvati should be done. After this Lord Kartikeya should be worshipped.
First some water should be offered, after that flowers, garlands, fruits, nuts, kalava, vermilion, akshat, sandalwood etc. should be offered to God. Then chant the mantra by lighting the lamp.
At the end, while performing Roop Aarti, one should apologize for the mistake and mistake.
