Skanda Shashthi puja method
Lord Skanda is worshipped on the sixth day of Kartik month. Since this time is known as Kartik, it is also very special for the worship of Lord Kartikeya. On this day, mothers observe fast to ensure a happy future for their children. Along with this, this fast is also observed for progress in life and freedom from planetary defects. Through this worship, one attains happiness and progress in life.
On the day of Skanda Shashthi, one wakes up in the morning before sunrise and remembers God. The fast starts with taking a bath meditating and remembering the child form of Lord Kartikeya. The idol of God is installed in the temple. After this, the puja materials which include flowers, sandalwood, incense, lamps, fruits, sweets, clothes etc. are offered to the Lord.
The story of the Skanda Shashthi fast is read, and aarti and mantras are chanted. Along with Lord Kartikeya, they worship Mother Parvati and Mahadev and remember and worship Lord Ganesha. According to religious beliefs, worshipping Lord Kartikeya provides strength and leads to victory.
