You can break Tulsi leaves after taking a bath in the morning or even in the afternoon. But don't bite basil leaves in the evening even by mistake.

According to the scriptures, Tulsi leaves should never be plucked with nails. Where you have planted Tulsi plant, if dry Tulsi leaves are falling there, then put those leaves in the plant so that no one gets touched. Goddess Tulsi should never be insulted, always worship her with complete rituals. Tulsi plant should never be planted in the south direction in the house. Always keep the Tulsi plant in the East, North or North East direction or you can plant it in the ground as well. According to the scriptures, Tulsi leaves should never be plucked on Sunday, Ekadashi and eclipse day. Apart from this, water should not be offered to the Tulsi plant on Sunday and Ekadashi. Because it is believed that in these two days Goddess Tulsi observes waterless fast for Vishnu.
