According to Vishnu Purana, fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi is equivalent to the benefits of fasting on the other 23 Ekadashis of the year. According to the Hindu calendar, this special Ekadashi falls during Shukla Paksha in the month of Margashirsha (Agahan).
According to the Gregorian calendar, it occurs approximately in November or December. Mokshada Ekadashi is considered an auspicious day for Hindus especially Vaishnavas or worshipers of Lord Vishnu. On this day Lord Shri Krishna, an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, recited the holy Bhagavad Gita.
Ekadashi fast is dedicated to Lord Vishnu. As per its name, this Ekadashi is considered to provide salvation. By fasting on Mokshada Ekadashi, sins are eliminated and ancestors also get salvation.
