Navratri or Durga Puja is celebrated as a symbol of the victory of good over evil. In South India, Navratri is celebrated to commemorate Lord Rama's victory over the demon king Ravana.

Day 1: Kali Ghat Shakti Peeth

Located in Kolkata, Kali Ghat Temple is one of the ancient and divine sites among the Shakti Peeths. It's a revered centre for Shakti worship, attracting millions of devotees. According to beliefs, Goddess Kali's toe and thumb fell here. With Goddess Kali enshrined here in an awakened form, it's also known as the Jagrat Siddh Peeth.

Day 2: Kamakhya Shakti Peeth

Situated near Guwahati in Assam, Kamakhya Shakti Peeth is considered a place of miraculous paranormal energies. It's categorized as a prime location for tantric rituals. Kamakhya Shakti Peeth holds the supreme position among the 51 Shakti Peeths. According to mythology, Goddess Sati's genitals fell here, and the Goddess remains perpetually present here.

Day 3: Vaishno Devi

Located atop the Trikuta Mountains near Katra town in Jammu, Vaishno Devi Temple is one of the prominent Shakti sites. It's an ancient and renowned pilgrimage site where devotees worship the form of Goddess Vaishno. According to legend, the Goddess killed Bhairon Nath here and manifested as Mahakali, Mahasaraswati, and Mahalakshmi. These three forms of the Goddess are worshipped here as Vaishno Devi.

Day 4: Vindhyachal Shakti Peeth (Purna Peeth)

Vindhyachal is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths. It's unique because, within a radius of three kilometres, three goddesses are enshrined. While Goddess Vindhyavasini resides at Kali Khoh hill, Goddess Ashtabhuja and Goddess Mahakali are present on another hill. Unlike other Shakti Peeths, Vindhyachal is the only place where the complete form of the Goddess is worshipped, thus called the Complete Peeth. During Chaitra and Ashwin Navratri, millions of devotees gather here seeking blessings and fulfilment of desires.

Day 5: Mansa Devi, Haridwar

Mansa Devi Temple is revered as the divine abode of Goddess Mansa, considered a form of Shakti emanating from Lord Shiva's mind. Mansa is regarded as the sister of Nag (serpent) Vasuki. She is also revered as a daughter of Lord Shiva in her human incarnation.

Day 6: Jwala Ji Shakti Peeth

Jwala Ji Shakti Peeth, situated in the Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh, is one of the primary Shakti Peeths. Here, Goddess Jwala remains ever-present. According to legend, the Goddess' tongue fell here, and an eternal flame has been burning here since then, symbolizing the centre of Shakti's energy.

Day 7: Chintpurni Shakti Peeth

Another Shakti Peeth renowned in Himachal Pradesh is Chintpurni Shakti Peeth. It's believed that Goddess Sati's feet fell here, hence known as the alleviator of worries, where the blessings of the Goddess are bestowed upon all. Also known as Chinnamastika, it's the fifth stop in the Nine Devi pilgrimage.
