Special worship will be held in the city of Mahakaleshwar. Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga is situated on the banks of Rudrasagar Lake in Ujjain. This temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva. The specialty of this temple is that Lord Shiva is seated in the south-facing form.

The Bhasma Aarti here is very popular. Aarti is performed here with the ashes of a fresh dead body. It is said about this temple that when there was a debate between Brahma and Vishnu about superiority, then Lord Shiva appeared here in the form of light.
