The word "Kashi", literally meaning to shine, is older than its legends. No one could ever decode the origin of this place. Kashi existed even before Athens was not even thought of and even When Rome did not even exist in the minds of the people. It's older than Egypt.

Of particular note are the Dashashwamedh Ghat, Panchganga Ghat, Manikarnika Ghat and Harishchandra Ghat, the last two being places where Hindus cremate their dead.

If a person is very distressed, then he must get Rudrabhishek done in Kashi to get happiness in his life.
